my latest

in pursuit of, idk, existential divination in these wretched bro-tech-y imperialist times, I rewatched Spike Jonze’s 2013 film Her. (the film was set in our year 2025!) the movie’s message isn’t what I remembered — it’s way more unnerving than I expected. but its central theme, about how desperate we are as people to connect, and how bad we are at doing it, remains. Haunting and warning, as always. You can read my essay on Slate.
